Let \(M\) be a complex projective manifold with the holomorphic action of a complex connected Lie group \(G\). Let \(E_H\) denote a principal \(H\)-bundle on \(M\), where \(H\) is a complex connected Lie group. The authors construct an equivariant analogue \(At^G(E_H)\) of the Atiyah bundle fitting in an analogue of the Atiyah exact sequence. A \(G\)-connection on \(E_H\) is a holomorphic splitting of this analogue of the Atiyah exact sequence. The curvature of a \(G\)-connection is an element of \(H^0(M, ad(E_H)) \otimes \bigwedge^2 \mathrm{Lie}(G)^*\) and the \(G\)-connection is called flat if the curvature vanishes identically.NEWLINENEWLINEThe authors show that if \(E_H\) admits an equivariant structure, then it admits a flat \(G\)-connection. Assume that \(G\) is simply connected. Then the authors prove that if \(E_H\) admits a flat \(G\)-connection or if \(G\) is semisimple and \(E_H\) admits a \(G\)-connection, then \(E_H\) admits an equivariant structure. In case \(M\) is a certain homogeneous space or a toric variety, they give a cohomological criterion for \(E_H\) to admit an equivariant structure.
