The equation \(-\Delta_pu+| \nabla u|^q=0\) is studied in bounded domains of \(\mathbb R^N\), when \(N\geq p>q>p-1\). The authors prove the existence of a critical exponent \(q_\ast<p\) such that if \(p-1<q<q_\ast\) there are positive solutions with isolated singularities of two different types on the boundary of the domain. If \(q_\ast\leq q<p\) no such solution exists and boundary singularities of positive solutions are removable.
