It is well known that the usage of the boundary element method allows for high-order pointwise approximation of the solution of the related partial differential equation by the representation formula, but the high-order convergence and the accuracy usually suffer from singularities of the Cauchy data. The authors propose two adaptive mesh-refining algorithms. Additionally, they prove quasi-optimal convergence behavior with respect to an a-posteriori computable bound for the point error in the representation formula. Finally, numerical results for weakly-singular integral equations for both the 2D and 3D Laplacian are presented which support the theoretical results.
