Let \(\bigwedge^ m(\mathbb R^ n)\) be the linear space of \(m\)-vectors spanned by all exterior products of vectors of the canonical basis of \(\mathbb R^ n\). For an open domain \(\Omega\in \mathbb R^ n\) let \(A, B\colon\;\Omega\times\bigwedge^ m(\mathbb R^ n)\to\bigwedge^ m(\mathbb R^ n)\) be functions such that \(| A(x,\xi)| \leq a | \xi| ^{p-1}\), \(\langle A(x,\xi),\xi\rangle\geq | \xi| ^ p\), and \(| B(x,\xi)| \leq b | \xi| ^ {p-1}\), for every \(\xi\in\bigwedge^ m(\mathbb R^ n)\), and \(x\in\Omega\), where \(a\) and \(b\) are positive constants. The \(A\)-harmonic equation is: \((*)\;d^ * A(x, d\omega)=B(x,d\omega)\). An element \(\omega\in W^{1,p}_{\text{loc}}(\Omega,\bigwedge^ {m-1})\) such that \( \int_\Omega [\langle A(x,d\omega),d\varphi\rangle+\langle (x,d\omega), \varphi\rangle]dx=0\) for every \(\varphi\in W^{1,p}(\Omega,\bigwedge^{m-1})\) is a solution of the \(A\)-harmonic equation \((*)\). This paper is a survey on the theory of the \(A\)-harmonic equation for differential forms. The authors investigate the \(A\)-harmonic equation, quasiconformal mappings, and their relationship. They discuss some other relative equations and summarize some recent advances related to Hardy-Littlewood inequalities, Poincaré-Sobolev inequalities, reverse Hölder inequalities, and Caccioppoli-type estimates for differential forms, respectively. Then, they explore some relationships between BMO spaces of differential forms and Lipschitz conditions of differential forms and focus their attention on the different versions of embedding theorems. Finally, they study the integrability of the solutions to the \(A\)-harmonic equation. The authors attach a large reference list to this survey.
