The authors prove the so called product property for the pluricomplex energy, that is: Assume that \(\Omega_{i}\subset\mathbb C^{n_{i}},n_{i}\geq 1, i=1,2 \) are two bounded hyperconvex domains and let \(u_{i}\in\mathcal E_{0}(\Omega_{i}), i=1,2\). If \(u(z_{1},z_{2})=max(u_{1}(z_{1}),u_{2}(z_{2}))\), then \[ \int_{\Omega_{1}\times\Omega_{2}}h(u)(dd^{c} u)^{n_{1}+n_{2}}=\int_{\Omega_{1}\times\Omega_{2}}h(u)(dd^{c} u_{1})^{n_{1}}\wedge(dd^{c} u_{2})^{n_{2}}, \] for all upper semicontinuous functions \(h:(-\infty,0]\to\mathbb R\) The class \(\mathcal E_{0}(\Omega)\) stands for all plurisubharmonic functions \(\varphi\), defined on \(\Omega\) such that \(\lim_{\Omega\ni z\to\zeta}\varphi(z)=0\), for every \(\zeta\in\partial\Omega\), and \(\int_{\Omega}(dd^{c}\varphi)^{dim \Omega}<\infty\), where \((dd^{c}\cdot)^{dim \Omega}\) is the complex Monge-Ampère operator. The proof requires several reduction steps. The authors also provide some applications of this theorem.
