Let \(f\) and \(g\) be elliptic elements of order \(m\) and \(n\), respectively. If the distance \(\delta(f,g)\) between the fixed points of \(f\) and \(g\) satisfies the inequality \(\cosh\delta(f,g)>{\cos{\pi\over m}\cos{\pi\over n}+1\over\sin{\pi\over m}\cdot\sin{\pi\over n}}\) then \(\langle f,g\rangle\) is discrete and isomorphic to the free product \(\langle f\rangle*\langle g\rangle\). This result follows trivially from the `if and only if' statement in [\textit{G. Rosenberger}, Math. Ann. 199, 213-227 (1972; Zbl 0244.20057)]; a complete extended discussion is given in [\textit{B. Fine} and \textit{G. Rosenberger}, in Groups `93 Galway/St. Andrews'. Proc. int. Conf., Lond. Math. Soc. Lect. Note Ser. 211, 205-232 (1995; Zbl 0847.20044)].
