The missing label of \(\mathfrak{su}_3\) and its symmetry (Q6038752)

This interesting work is devoted to obtaining explicit formulae for the missing label operators for the tensor product of two irreducible representations of \(\mathfrak{su}_3\). It is shown that these can be interpreted in the context of a special representation of the diagonal centralizer of \(\mathfrak{su}_3\) by means of pairs of tridiagonal matrices. From these results, the symmetry group of the labeling problem is studied, resulting in a group having order 144, for which various realizations are provided, the most relevant being as a subgroup of the Weyl group associated to the exceptional Lie algebra E6. This is used to derive a class of representations of the diagonal centralizer by infinite tridiagonal matrices. The relation with the Hahn algebra and the Heun-Hahn operators is also discussed, as well as the connection with the symmetries of Clebsch-Gordan coefficients.
