In the paper under review, the authors introduce the concept of good symmetric polynomials in terms of Schur polynomials. The main result of this paper states that each good symmetric polynomial has a saturated Newton polytope (SNP) and its Newton polytope has the integer decomposition property (IDP). This provides a unified approach to the SNP and IDP of many combinatorial polynomials including symmetric Grothendieck polynomials, inflated symmetric Grothendieck polynomials, Stanley's symmetric polynomials, and chromatic symmetric polynomials of co-bipartite graphs, indifference graphs of Dyck paths, and incomparability graphs of (3+1)-free posets.
