This paper is a contribution to the study of modules over a commutative unital ring. As a generalisation of semi-simplicity, a right \(R\)-module \(M\) is \textit{morphic} if for any \(f\in\mathrm{End}(M)\), there is a \(g\in\mathrm{End}(M)\) such that \(\mathrm{im}(f)=\ker(g)\) and \(\ker(f)=\mathrm{im}(g)\); and \textit{quasi-morphic} if for any \(f\in\mathrm{End}(M)\), there are \(g\) and \(h\in \mathrm{End}(M)\) such that \(\mathrm{im}(f)=\ker(g)\) and \(\ker(f)=\mathrm{im}(h)\). The author determines homological properties of (quasi-)morphic modules, and investigates conditions under which quasi-morphic modules are morphic, proving for example that uniserial finite length quasi-morphic modules are morphic. They characterize (quasi-)morphic modules over several classes of commutative rings.
