Dominant dimension and representation dimension introduced in [\textit{M. Auslander}, Representation dimension of Artin algebras. With the assistance of Bernice Auslander. London: Queen Mary College (1971; Zbl 0331.16026)] are two important homological invariants of Artin algebras. A seemingly dual version of representation dimension is the rigid dimension introduced in [\textit{H. Chen} et al., Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 170, No. 2, 417--443 (2021; Zbl 1508.16018)]. \textit{K. Yamagata} [in: Handbook of algebra. Volume 1. Amsterdam: North-Holland. 841--887 (1996; Zbl 0879.16008)] conjectured that the dominant dimension of a finite dimensional connected non-selfinjective algebra is bounded by a function on the number of its simple modules. For a finite dimensional algebra, if the Yamagata conjecture holds true then its rigidity dimension is finite. The rigid degree of a left module \(M\) over an algebra \(\Lambda\) is the maximal non-negative integer \(n\) such that Ext\(^i_\Lambda(M,M)\) vanishes for all \(1\le i\le n\), or \(\infty\). By a result of \textit{B. J. Mueller} [Can. J. Math. 20, 398--409 (1968; Zbl 0155.07503)], the dominant dimension of the endomorphism algebra of a generator-cogenerator in module category is just the rigid degree of the generator-cogenerator plus two. In the paper under review, the authors provide explicit formulae for the rigidity degrees of indecomposable modules over representation-finite self-injective algebras over an algebraically closed field by developing combinatorial methods from the Euclidean algorithm. As an application, they calculate the rigidity dimensions of some representation-finite self-injective algebras of types \(A\) and \(E\). Moreover, they show that the Yamagata conjecture holds true for connected non-selfinjective Morita algebras with representation-finite base algebra, in particular, representation-finite Morita algebras over an algebraically closed field.
