This paper focuses on a localized version of a Galambos's question about the growth speed of the digits in Engel expansion, namely the set \[ \left\{ x\in(0,1] : \lim_{n\to\infty}\frac{1}{n}\log d_n(x)=\alpha(x)\right\}, \] where \(\alpha:[0,1]\to[0,\infty]\) is a non-negative continuous function and \(d_n (x)\) denotes the \(n\)th digits in the Engel expansion of \(x\). The Hausdorff dimension is shown to be irrelevant of the function \(\alpha(x)\). Namely, \(\dim_H E(\alpha)=1\). As applications, this answers Galambos's question and strengthens some results by \textit{Y.-Y. Liu} and \textit{J. Wu} [Acta Arith. 99, No. 1, 79--83 (2001; Zbl 0989.11039)].
