In this paper, the authors focus on the study of the self-homotopy groups of \(SU(4)\) and \(Sp(4)\). First, by localizing at odd primes \(p\), they show that both \(SU(4)\) and \(Sp(4)\) appear as coker of many central exact sequences. They also prove that the nilpotency of \(Sp(4)\) is equal to 2, if \(p= 7, 11, 13\) and equal to 1, if \(p > 13\).
