Commutators of contactomorphisms (Q607347)

For a contact manifold \((M,\alpha)\) the author shows that the identity component \(\text{Cont}_c(M,\alpha)_0\) of the compactly supported subgroup of the group of contactomorphisms of \((M,\alpha)\) coincides with its own commutator subgroup. This is applied to show that for connected \(M\) the group \(\text{Cont}_c(M,\alpha)_0\) is simple.
