For the three-dimensional viscous and non-resistive magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations in a three-dimensional periodic domain, the authors first show the existence and uniqueness of a global smooth solution with (possible large) perturbation of the initial data as long as the intensity of the impressed magnetic field is strong enough. The second result of this article discusses the convergence to the linearized equations with algebraic convergence rates for large time or sufficiently strong impressed magnetic field. The proof is based on the Lagrangian formulation and makes full use of the magnetic inhibition mechanism, together with the multi-layer energy method that is widely used in the study of large-time behavior of solutions to parabolic-hyperbolic coupled systems. These results not only confirm that a strong impressed magnetic field does prevent the formation of singularity for classical solutions to the viscous non-resistive MHD equations, but also provides a starting point for the global well-posedness theory for this kind of MHD systems with large initial data.
