The paper under review brings different tools together in the solution of an interesting problem on the theory of modular forms, namely the number of distinct prime divisors of their Fourier coefficients but in a probabilistic way. Suppose that we have two newforms which are not twist of each other, without complex multiplication and have integral coefficients. Then in the paper under review, the authors show that the distribution of the number of distinct primes dividing the Fourier coefficients behaves like the standard multivariate normal distribution. As a natural corollary of this result, they prove a multiplicity one result for modular forms under the generalized Riemann hypothesis. Beside assuming the GRH, the proof is based on a multivariate version of the Erdős-Kac theorem and calculations on Galois representations.
