There are cases in which the solution to the matrix equation \(AXB=C\) can be presented as a sum of solutions to two matrix equations \(A_{1} X_{1} B_{1}=C_{1}\) and \(A_{2} X_{2} B_{2}=C_{2}\) which are simpler to solve (e.g. when \(A_i\), \(B_i\), \(C_i\) are submatrices of \(A\), \(B\), \(C\)). The authors consider such decompositions. Some applications are also given on additive decompositions of generalized inverses, as well as decompositions of solutions of matrix equations into the sums of solutions of their small equations.
