The authors introduce the Fréchet log-logistic distribution; its density is defined as \[ f_{\mathrm{FLD}}(x;\alpha,\theta,\beta) =\frac{\beta\theta}{x}\,\left(\beta \ln\left(\frac{\alpha}{x}\right)\right)^{-\theta-1}\,\exp\left(-\left(\beta \ln\frac{\alpha}{x}\right)^{-\theta}\right) \] with \(\beta>0\), \(\theta>0\) and \(\alpha>x>0\). This distribution is used in order to model failure rate phenomena. Important features, like hazard function, percentile function, moment generating function, entropy are studied. The model is applied to four data sets; the results seem to show that the model is ``a viable alternative to existing lifetime probability models''.
