Let \(L\) be a complex Lie bialgebra. Quantization of \(L\) roughly refers to a Hopf algebra structure on \(U(L)[[t]]\) such that by skew-symmetrizing the coproduct and reducing mod t, one recovers the Lie bialgebra structure on \(L\). A general method for doing this was given in a series of papers by Etingof and Kazhdan, but it can be very complicated to carry out for a specific \(L\). In the paper under review, the authors discuss the Schrödinger-Virasoro Lie algebra \( L\), which has a basis \(\{L_n, Y_p, M_n\}\) for integers \(n\) and half-integers \(p\). Lie bialgebra structures on \(L\) were given by \textit{J. Han, J. Li} and the first author [ J. Math. Phys. 50, No. 8, 083504, 12 p. (2009; Zbl 1234.17016)]. They are not all coboundary triangular (coming from a solution \(r\) of the classical Yang-Baxter equation). In the paper under review, the authors quantize two coboundary triangular Lie bialgebra structures on \(L\), each involving two distinguished elements of \(L\). This involves a Drinfeld twist \(F\) in each case, and the quantization means that \(F\) is determined by \(r\). In the quantization, the products and counit remain undeformed, but the coproduct and antipode are deformed.
