The present paper studies \(m\)-periodic tilting objects, which serve as analogs of tilting objects in periodic triangulated categories. The main result is the following analog of the classical tilting theorem from [\textit{B. Keller}, Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 27, No. 1, 63--102 (1994; Zbl 0799.18007)]: if \(T\) is an \(m\)-periodic tilting object in an \(m\)-periodic algebraic triangulated category \(\mathcal{T}\) and \(\Lambda=\mathrm{End}_\mathcal{T}(T)\) satisfies \(\mathrm{pdim}_{\Lambda^e}(\Lambda)\leq m\), then \(\mathcal{T}\cong\mathbf{perf}_m(\Lambda)\). This follows from intrinsic formality of the graded algebra \(\Lambda[t^{\pm 1}]\) with \(\deg(t)=m\), which is proved using a criterion for intrinsic formality in terms of Hochschild cohomology. Finally, the results are applied to stable module categories of certain periodic finite-dimensional algebras, and also to stable categories of Cohen-Macaulay modules over hypersurface singularities.
