The authors study the existence of a positive periodic solution for a generalized Lazer--Solimini equation with indefinite weight of the type \[ x''+\frac{a(t)}{x^\rho}=h(t). \] The assumptions of the main theorem are rather involved. Their result holds for weak singularities as well as strong singularities. The proof uses degree theory.
