This is a very careful analysis of the paper [\textit{H. Sohr} and \textit{W. von Wahl}, Arch. Math. 46, 428--439 (1986; Zbl 0574.35070)]. It is the first to prove the full \(L^s (L^q )\)-maximal regularity estimate of the Stokes operator in bounded and exterior domains, cited by 146 papers (on Google Scholar). The point of the present paper is to describe all details for obtaining the pressure estimates. The importance of the special exponents 5/3 and 5/4 is explained, related with weak solutions, by using the Helmholtz decomposition of \(L^p\) spaces and analytic semigroup theory. Some regularity results are explained, related with the previous papers [\textit{V. Scheffer}, Pac. J. Math. 66, 535--552 (1976; Zbl 0325.35064); Commun. Math. Phys. 55, 97--112 (1977; Zbl 0357.35071)]. In the last part are given some interesting explanations for new results concerning: the pressure function; the Stokes operator related with real and complex interpolation; regularity results -- related with the paper [\textit{A. F. Vasseur}, NoDEA, Nonlinear Differ. Equ. Appl. 14, No. 5--6, 753--785 (2007; Zbl 1142.35066)]; new maximal regularity results for the Stokes operator. On this way, the importance of the above Sohr-von Wahl result can be can be better understood, from a modern point of view.
