This article is concerned with Carleman inequalities and unique continuation for the polyharmonic operators. Precisely, the authors obtain that the inequality \(\| e^{v\cdot x} u\|_{L^q(\mathbb{R}^d)}\leq C \| e^{v\cdot x} (-\Delta u)^k\|_{L^p(\mathbb{R}^d)}\) holds for all \(u\in C^\infty_0(\mathbb{R}^d)\), \(v\in \mathbb{R}^d\) if and only if \(1<p,q<\infty\) satisfy \(\frac{1}{p}-\frac{1}{q}=\frac{2k}{d}\) and \(\frac{(d+2k)(d-2)}{2d(d-1)}\leq \frac{1}{p}\leq \frac{d+2k}{2(d-1)}\). As an application, the unique continuation property for the differential inequality \(|\Delta^k u|\leq |Vu|\) is discussed.
