    A cross lemma states that in an additive category with (co)kernels, i.e., a pre-Abelian category, if we are given a diagram \[ \begin{tikzcd} & D \ar[d, "f"] & \\ A \ar[r, "g"'] & B \ar[r, "p"'] \ar[d, "q"] & E \\ & F & \end{tikzcd} \] in which \(\operatorname{im} g = \ker p\) and \(\operatorname{im} f = \ker q\), and that the composite \(qg\) is strict, i.e., the canonical map \(\operatorname{coim} qg \to \operatorname{im} qg\) is an isomorphism, then the composite \(pf\) is also strict. In this article, the author establishes the cross lemma in a left (resp. right) quasi-Abelian category, i.e., a pre-Abelian category such that cokernels (resp. kernels) are pullback (resp. pushout)-stable.
