A sufficient condition to construct a wavelet family from a purely discrete-time signal is provided by the author. This construction is based on an exact mathematical definition of the scale-shift operator in discrete time. It is strongly motivated by a strict equivalence between voice transform and wavelet coefficients of a discrete-time signal. The author gives particular classes of signals which satisfy this condition. The author lists classes of stochastic signals satisfying that condition, especially the white noise, and makes further investigations.
