Let \(\Gamma(H)\) and \(\Gamma^\ast(H)\) be the number of square free integers of the forms, respectively, \(x^2+y^2+z^2+z+1\) and \(x^2+y^2+z+1\) with \(x,y,z\in[1,H]\). In the paper under review, the author proves that there exist constants \(C\) and \(C^\ast\) such that \(\Gamma(H)=CH^3+O(H^{9/4+\varepsilon})\) and \(\Gamma^\ast(H)=C^\ast H^3+O(H^{5/2+\varepsilon})\). The constants \(C\) and \(C^\ast\) are determined respectively in terms of the number of solutions \(x^2+y^2+z^2+z+1\equiv 0\) and \(x^2+y^2+z+1\equiv 0\) modulo a given prime \(p\).
