\textit{S. Güler} and \textit{M. Crasmareanu} [Turk. J. Math. 43, No. 5, 2631--2641 (2019; Zbl 1433.53125)] introduced a new geometric flow under the name of Ricci-Yamabe flow because it is a scalar combination of the well-known Ricci and Yamabe flows. The paper under review is concerned with the notion of \(\eta \)-Ricci-Yamabe soliton in the setting of almost Kenmotsu geometry. A main result proves the existence of a gradient \(\eta \)-Ricci-Yamabe soliton on an \((k, \mu )^{\prime }\)-almost Kenmotsu manifold. Some other curvature conditions are also studied. A \(3\)-dimensional example is discussed at the end of the paper.
