The authors consider the fully discrete finite volume method for the incompressible MHD (magnetohydrodynamics) equations. The lowest equal-order mixed finite element pair is used to approximate the velocity, pressure, and magnetic fields. The local pressure projection method is introduced to overcome the restriction of discrete inf-sup condition. The time discretization is performed using the backward Euler semi-implicit scheme. The \(H^2\)-stability is proved and optimal error estimates are established as well. Some numerical examples are presented to confirm the reliability and accuracy of the considered numerical schemes.
