In this short paper, the author gives an internal geometric characterization of the so called strongly starlike mappings of order alpha in \(\mathbb C^n\). The result of the author is as follows: Let \(\alpha\in(0,1)\) and \(f:\mathbb B^{n}\to\mathbb C^n\) be a mapping with nonvanishing Jacobian that satisfies the standard assumptions in this area, namely: \(f(0)=0\), \(Df(0)=I\). Then the following are equivalent: {\parindent5mm \begin{itemize}\item[{\(\bullet\)}] \(f\) is a strongly starlike mapping of order \(\alpha\); \item[{\(\bullet\)}] \(f\) is biholomorphic onto its image and for every \(w\in f(\mathbb B^{n})\), \(w\mathbb E_{\alpha}\subset f(\mathbb B^{n}).\) \end{itemize}} Here, ``strongly starlike mapping of order \(\alpha\)'' means a mapping that satisfies the general assumptions of the above theorem and, moreover, for which the inequality \[ |\text{arg}\langle(D f(z))^{-1} f(z),z\rangle|<\alpha\tfrac{\pi}{2},\quad z\in \mathbb B^{n}\setminus\{0\} \] holds and \(\mathbb E_{\alpha}\) stands for the planar region bounded by the curve \[ \rho_{\alpha}(\theta)e^{i\theta},\quad \theta\in[(\alpha-1)\tfrac{\pi}{2},(1-\alpha)\tfrac{\pi}{2}], \] where \[ \rho_{\alpha}(\theta)=(\cos((\alpha)\tfrac{\pi}{2}))^{-1}\cos(\theta-\alpha\tfrac{\pi}{2}),\quad \theta\in[(\alpha-1)\tfrac{\pi}{2},0], \] \[ \rho_{\alpha}(\theta)=(\cos((\alpha)\tfrac{\pi}{2}))^{-1}\cos(\theta+\alpha\tfrac{\pi}{2}),\quad \theta\in[0,(1-\alpha)\tfrac{\pi}{2}], \] (this region looks like a lens). The proof uses one-dimensional methods as well as properties of starlike mappings on the unit ball of \(\mathbb C^n\).
