The properties of \(C^*\) algebras might or might not depend on the way the norm is defined. The usual norm is the \(L^2\) norm, going back to the law of Pythagoras and determining the length of usual vectors in finite as well as infinite dimensional spaces. It is an interesting fact exposed by the author that just this \(L^2\) norm does not allow for bidirectional implications that are given for the \(L^p\) norm with \(p\in(1,\infty)\backslash\{2\}\), even though such algebras are harder to deal with. The authors investigate \(\sigma\)-twisted \(L^p\) operator algebras in this exceptional range \(p\in(1,\infty)\backslash\{2\}\) and show that two of those algebras are isometrically isomorphic if and only if the groups are topologically isomorphic, a theorem going back to a work of Gardella and Thiel. In particular, they deal with a twist over an etale groupoid \(\mathcal{G}\) and show that the groupoid and the twist can be recovered from the operator algebra, again in case that \(p\ne 2\). Besides the many technical details not penetrable for scientists not working on such subjects frequently, the message shines through that even though investigated very rarely, because of the shown properties it is worth to work on these exceptional \(C^*\) algebras.
