Negative refraction for anti-plane elastic waves in canonical quasicrystalline laminates (Q6162930)

The authors consider negative refraction of anti-plane shear waves at the interface of elastic substrate and transverse periodic laminate. The role of canonical laminate in the negative refraction is explored in detail. By considering the transmission matrix at the interface, the canonical frequencies are obtained. It is shown that the concept of canonical laminate provides a useful way to attain negative refraction in periodic elastic structures. Graphical representation of transmission across the interface by considering periodic structure generated by the Fibonacci sequence. The traces of transmission matrix at low frequency are also discussed and plot of first two pass bands has been displayed.
