A contact form on a manifold of dimension three is called non-degenerate if the return map of all closed Reeb orbits does not have eigenvalue \(1\). A non-degenerate closed orbit is called positive (resp. negative) hyperbolic if the eigenvalues of the return map are positive (resp. negative), and elliptic if it is nor the first two cases. \textit{M. Hutchings} and \textit{C. H. Taubes} [Geom. Topol. 13, No. 2, 901--941 (2009; Zbl 1169.53065)] showed that if a closed contact non-degenerate three manifold \((Y, \lambda)\) has exactly two simple Reeb orbit then both of them are elliptic and \(Y\) is a lens space (possibly \(S^3\)). Recently, for a closed contact non-degenerate three manifold \((Y, \lambda)\), \textit{D. Cristofaro-Gardiner} et al. [ibid. 23, No. 7, 3601--3645 (2019; Zbl 1432.53106)] proved: (i) if the first Chern class of \(\mathrm{Ker}(\lambda)\) is torsion, then there exist infinitely many periodic orbits, or there exist exactly two elliptic simple periodic orbits and \(Y\) is diffeomorphic to a lens space; (ii) if the first Chern class of \(\mathrm{Ker}(\lambda)\) is not torsion, then there exist at least four periodic orbits; (iii) if the first Betti number of \(Y\) is positive, then the Reeb flow has at least one positive hyperbolic closed orbit. Because of these results, in the same paper D. Cristofaro-Gardiner et al. asked the next question: Is there a positive hyperbolic simple Reeb orbit for a non-degenerate contact form \(\lambda\) on a closed connected three manifold \(Y\) which is not \(S^3\) or a lens space? Using embedded contact homology (ECH), in the paper under review the author gives an answer to this question by showing that a closed contact non-degenerate three manifold \((Y,\lambda)\) with infinity many simple Reeb orbits must have a simple positive hyperbolic orbit provided that \(Y\) is either a lens space \(L(p, q)\) (\(p\ne\pm 1\) and \(p\in 2\mathbb{Z}+1\)) or a three sphere with a non-trivial finite free group action.
