Let \(A\) be an abelian variety over a perfect field \(k\) and let \(K\) be a complete discrete valuation field with the residue field \(k\). \textit{N. Tsuzuki} [J. Inst. Math. Jussieu 20, No. 2, 587--625 (2021; Zbl 1467.14060)] proved that if \(k\) is finite then any \(K\)-linear convergent \(F\)-isocrystal on \(A/k\) has constant slopes (or equivalently constant Newton polygons). The author proves that for arbitrary \(k\) if \(K\) is the fraction field of Witt vectors of \(k\), then every \(K\)-linear convergent \(F\)-isocrystal has constant slopes. The proof is necessarily different to Tsuzuki's one and it first establishes commutativity of the monodromy group of convergent isocrystals over \(A\), using an Eckmann-Hilton argument. As a corollary the author compares convergent isocrystals admitting a Frobenius structure on a smooth proper variety and on its Albanese variety.
