Using generalized open sets (g-open sets), introduced by \textit{N. Levine} [Rend. Circ. Mat. Palermo (2) 19, 89--96 (1970; Zbl 0231.54001)], instead of open sets in the definition of star compactness, the authors introduce strongly star g-compactness and investigate the relationship with other covering properties, the behavior in relation to subsets, subspaces and so on.
