Let \(\mathcal{F}(X)\) denote the complex vector space of functions \(f:X\to \mathbb{C}\) for any set \(X\). Let \(X=S\) be a magma, and let \(V\) be a subspace of \(\mathcal{F}(S)\), which is invariant under left or right translations. It is known for an abelian group \(S\) that if \(p_{1} \chi_{1},\ldots, p_{n}\chi_{n}\in\mathcal{F}(S)\) are nonzero exponential polynomials with distinct exponentials \(\chi_{1},\ldots, \chi_{n}\) then \(p_{1} \chi_{1}+\cdots +p_{n}\chi_{n}\in V \Rightarrow p_{1} \chi_{1}, \ldots, p_{n}\chi_{n}\in V\) and \(\chi_{1}, \ldots, \chi_{n}\in V\). The authors extend this to magmas. Their results imply that any exponential polynomial solution \(f\in\mathcal{F}(S)\) of \(f(xy)=f(x)\chi(y)+\chi(x)f(y)\) where \(\textit{x} \in\mathcal{F}(S)\) is an exponential, has the form \(f=a\chi\) where \(a\in \mathcal{F}(S)\) is additive, even when \(\chi\) has zeros.
