The work is of interest for experts in mathematics, physics, computer science and engineering interested to apply the non-commutative and non-associative framework of the hypercomplex algebra of octonions in discrete octonionic analysis. The work begins with a thorough introduction to previous work on discrete quaternionic and discrete Clifford analysis, followed by an introduction to continuous octonion analysis. As for discrete octonion analysis forward and backward differences and discrete forward and backward Cauchy-Riemann operators (and their conjugate versions) are defined. The latter allow to factorize the star-Laplacian. Furthermore, discrete left forward (and backward) monogenic functions are defined. Next for the discrete forward and backward Cauchy-Riemann operators, discrete fundamental solutions are defined (and discussed) that can be constructed by means of a discrete Fourier transform. This is followed by discrete Stokes-, Borel-Pompeiu- and Cauchy formulae and discrete-octonionic Cauchy transforms on eight-dimensional octonionic upper and lower half lattices. After that discrete octonionic Hardy spaces are defined and discussed using an octonion valued inner product, including operators that extend discrete functions from the upper (or lower) discrete octonionic Hardy space to the boundary layer. The authors surprisingly find that in the discrete octonionic setting the associator (essential in the case of non-associative multiplication) vanishes. The presented results may allow further study of boundary value problems for monogenic functions in discrete octonionic analysis and may help to develop numerical algorithms with applications in physics.
