In this work, the authors address a Cauchy problem for the complex equation \[ iu_t=\frac{u_{xx}}{\left(1+|u_x|^2\right)^2}, \] where the denominator takes into account nonlinearity introduced to describe short pulses. The Riemann-Hilbert approach and \(\bar{\partial}\) steepest descent method are implemented. On this way, the spectral analysis of Lax pair leading to an appropriate transformation is used. This results in the estimation of the solution belonging to a definite bounded region.
