The aim of this paper is to investigate and prove the Harnack inequality for minimizers of the following variational problem with a non-autonomous functional: \[ \inf_{u} \int_{\Omega} \varphi(x, |\nabla u|)dx, \] where \(\varphi\) exhibits generalized Orlicz growth. Such functionals represent energy, and their minimizers can be equivalent to solutions of the associated Euler-Lagrange equations of PDE type under certain conditions. It is known that in the generalized Orlicz case, solutions with prescribed boundary values exist; minimizers are locally bounded and satisfy Harnack's inequality. The Harnack inequality for minimizers would provide valuable information about the behavior and regularity of solutions to associated PDEs or variational problems, particularly regarding their growth and oscillation properties in different regions of the domain. Therefore, the Harnack inequality offers qualitative insights into minimizers without the often difficult task of solving PDEs. The framework presented in the paper encompasses a wide range of results reported in the literature. The paper includes an extensive list of references containing 58 items.
