This paper deals with pseudodifferential operators on a wedge with continuous and variable discrete branching asymptotics. The main observation of the authors is that such asymptotics for \(\Gamma\to 0\) in the image under the Mellin transform turn to poles of corresponding meromorphic functions, depending on the edge variable \(y\). We point out that variable multiplicities of these poles are admitted. Moreover, it is proved that the \(y\)-wise discrete asymptotics are preserved under the action of Green and Mellin operators of the edge calculus developed in that paper. To be more precise and to clearify the things we shall write the elliptic operator \(A\) in the frames of edge singularities. Thus, in the local coordinates \((r,x,y)\) of an open stretched wedge \(\mathbb{R}_+\times X\times\Omega\) one has \[ A= r^{-\mu} \sum_{j+|\alpha|\leq\mu} a_{j\alpha}(r,y)(-r\partial_r)^j(rD_y)^\alpha,\tag{1} \] where \(a_{j\alpha}\in C^\infty(\overline{\mathbb{R}}_+\times\Omega,\, \text{Diff}^{\mu-(j+|\alpha|)}(X))\). As usual \(X\) is a smooth, compact and closed manifold and \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^q\) is an open set. The solutions \(u(r,x,y)\) of the equation \(Au= f\) are expected to have the following variable discrete asymptotics \[ u(r,x,y)\sim \sum_j\, \sum^{m_j(y)}_{k=0} c_{jk}(x,y) r^{-p_j(y)}\log^kr\quad\text{for }r\to 0\tag{2} \] (the right-hand side \(f\) is assumed to have the same structure). The sequences \(P(y)= \{p_j(y), m_j(y)\}_{j= 1,\dots, J(y)}\subset\mathbb{C}\times \mathbb{N}\) are individual for every \(y\in\Omega\). The coefficients \(c_{jk}\) from (2) are expected to belong to \(C^\infty(X)\) for every fixed \(y\).
