This paper is concerned with existence results for nonsmooth second order differential inclusions. More precisely, the authors consider the following problem: \[ \begin{cases} q(t)\in Q(t)\quad & \text{for all }\,t\in I,\\ f(t,q(t))\in q''(t)+N(Q(t),q(t)),\\ q'(t^+)=P_{{\mathcal C}_{t,q(t)}}(q'(t^-)y(0)& \text{for all }\,t\in I,\\ q(0)=q_0\in\text{int}[Q(0)],\end{cases} \] where \(I\) is a bounded interval in \(\mathbb R\), \(\text{int}[Q(0)]\) is the interior of the set \(Q(0),\) \(N\) the approximal normal cone, and \({\mathcal C}_{t,q(t)}\) the set of feasible velocities, \(f: I\times\mathbb R^d\to\mathbb R^d\) is a signale valued map \(Q: \mathbb R^d\rightrightarrows \mathbb R^d\) is a multivalued map. Existence results are proved under Lipschitz and growth conditions on \(f\) in some Sobolev spaces. An application to the modeling of inelastic collisions is considered.
