The main results of the paper are presented in the form of two theorems which rely heavily on the existence of global Fermi coordinates on the covering plane of the torus. These coordinates allow the extra polynomial integral of the geodesic flow on the torus to be written appropriately with coefficients which can be determined by solving a system of quasi-linear equations. For this system it is additionally proven that there exists a change of variables sending the coefficients to the set of the so-called Riemann invariants and another one sending these coefficients to the conservation laws. In this way the problem of integration of the geodesic flow is reduced to the existence of (quasi-)periodic solutions of the quasi-linear system mentioned above.
