The paper aims to modify the relativistic Hamilton Jacobi equation of a particle in the electromagnetic field by introducing a new term that will allow oscillating solutions. This leads to the conventional quantum Hamilton Jacobi equation in the form \[ (1/c^2)(S_t+U)^2-(\nabla S - A/c)^2=m^2c^2+\imath\hbar (\triangle-(1/c^2)\partial^2/\partial t^2) S \] This equation is a transformed version of the linear Klein-Gordon equation \[ (1/c^2)(\partial/\partial t+\imath U/\hbar)^2\psi - (\nabla - \imath A/c)^2\psi +(mc/\hbar)^2\psi = 0 \] via the substitution \(\psi=\exp(\imath S/\hbar)\). The paper discusses first the case of a free particle (\(U=0\), \(A=0\)) then the particle moving with constant velocity. In both cases there is analyzed the action function \(S\) which prescribes monochromatic waves for \(r\gg\hbar/mc\) in the case of spherically symmetric solutions. there is obtained further the modulated de Broglie wave which acquires the meaning of a localized excitation of the action function displaying simultaneous particle like and wave like behavior. There is discussed also the quantization in terms of the action function with spherical symmetry and the particle in a slowly varying field.
