The authors study the parameterized Marcinkiewicz integral operator with a variable kernel defined by \[ \mu^\rho_\Omega(f)(x)= \Biggl(\int^\infty_0 |F^\rho_{\Omega,t}(x)|^2{dt\over t}\Biggr)^{1/2}, \] where \[ F^\rho_{\Omega,t}(x)= {1\over t^\rho} \int_{|x- y|< t} {\Omega\big(x,{x-y\over |x-y|}\big)\over |x-y|^{n-\rho}}\,f(y)\,dy \] and \(0< \rho< n\). The authors prove that if \(\Omega(x,{y\over|y|})\in L^\infty(\mathbb{R}^n, L^r(S^{n-1}))\) and if it satisfies \[ \int_{S^{n-1}} \Omega(x, z')\,d\sigma(z')= 0,\quad\text{all }x\in\mathbb{R}^n, \] then \(\mu^\rho_\Omega(f)\) is bounded on \(L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)\), where the range of \(p\) depends on the index \(r\) and the dimension \(n\). The main result extends a theorem in [\textit{Y. Ding}, \textit{C.-C. Lin} and \textit{S.-L. Shao}, Indiana Univ. Math. J. 53, No. 3, 805--821 (2004; Zbl 1074.42004)], in which the authors mainly considered the \(L^2\) estimate.
