The paper under review proves the infinite-dimensional analog of a classic result of [\textit{S. Kobayashi}, Transformation Groups in Differential Geometry. Ergebnisse der Mathematik und ihrer Grenzgebiete, Band 70. Berlin-Heidelberg-New York: Springer-Verlag. (1972; Zbl 0246.53031)], which asserts that the automorphism group of a \{1\}-structure on a connected (finite-dimensional) manifold is a Lie group. Recall that a \{1\}-structure (also called a complete, or absolute, parallelism) on a Banach manifold modeled on a Banach space \(E\) can be thought of as an \(E\)-valued \(1\)-form that induces an isomorphism from each tangent space with \(E\). The author proves that, given a smooth Banach principal bundle \(P\) (over a connected base) endowed with a \{1\}-structure, its space of infinitesimal automorphisms inherits a unique Banach-Lie algebra structure. Moreover, if all infinitesimal automorphisms are complete (in the usual sense of their flow being defined for all time), then the automorphism group of \(P\) becomes a Banach-Lie group whose action on \(P\) is smooth. As a consequence, the affine group of a connected geodesically complete Banach manifold \(M\) endowed with a connection is a Banach-Lie group that acts smoothly on \(M\). Although those are not contained in the paper under review, the motivation for such study and further application of these results are related to infinite-dimensional symmetric spaces and can be found in the subsequent work of the author [Banach Symmetric Spaces, preprint, \url{arXiv:0911.2089}]. Overall, the exposition is very clear and organized.
