The author presents a criterion for the modified logarithmic Sobolev inequality on metric measure spaces. The modified logarithmic Sobolev inequality on the real line was studied in [\textit{F. Barthe} and \textit{C. Roberto}, Potential Anal. 29, No.~2, 167--193 (2008; Zbl 1170.26010); \textit{I. Gentil, A. Guillin} and \textit{L. Miclo}, Probab. Theory Relat. Fields 133, No.~3, 409--436 (2005; Zbl 1080.26010)]. The criterion based on U-bound inequalities introduced by \textit{W. Hebisch} and \textit{B. Zegarliński} [J. Funct. Anal. 258, No. 3, 814--851 (2010; Zbl 1189.26032)] allows to extend the modified logarithmic Sobolev inequality for measures which are non log-concave.
