The authors develop an age-structured epidemic model with combined differential susceptibility and differential infectivity (DS-DI). The dynamics of the model are governed by a mixed system of ordinary differential equations (ODE) and partial differential equations (PDE). The case of a heterogeneous constant population is considered. The susceptibles are divided into m groups according to their susceptibilities. A formula for the reproductive number is derived. The case of the reproduction number less than one is studied. In this case, the infection-free equilibrium is locally stable, and unstable otherwise. Moreover, using the Lyapunov function, it is shown that this equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable.
