Let \(M\) be a compact Kähler manifold of complex dimension \(n\) such that \(c_1(M)=0\). Let \(F\) be a real function on \(M\) satisfying the normalization condition \[ \int_M e^F\Omega\wedge\bar\Omega=\int_M\Omega\wedge\bar\Omega \] with \(\Omega:=\) holomorphic volume form. In this situation, the main result of the paper (Theorem 1) states that, for \(n=2\) or \(3\), the equation \[ (\Omega+dd^s\psi)\wedge(\bar\Omega+dd^s\bar\psi)=e^F\Omega\wedge\bar\Omega\tag{\(*\)} \] on a complex \(n\)-form \(\psi\), where \(d^s\) is the symplectic differential operator (as defined in Section 2), admits a solution such that \(\bar\Omega:=\Omega+dd^s\psi\) is a stable primitive form. It follows from results in [\textit{D. Joyce}, Compact manifolds with special holonomy. Oxford Mathematical Monographs. Oxford: Oxford University Press (2000; Zbl 1027.53052)] that the existence of solutions to (\(*\)) implies the existence of Calabi-Yau metrics. This is an analogue of Yau's solution to the Monge-Ampere equation. The proof of this result is carried out in Section 3. The question of the existence of a solution to (\(*\)) in dimension \(n>3\) remains open.
