The author provides an analysis of the solutions of an FDE of form \[ x''(t)+ax'(t)+bx(t)+cx'([t])+dx([t])=\sigma(t),\;t\in [0,T] \] which satisfy the boundary conditions \[ x(0)=x(T),\;x'(0)=x'(T)+\lambda. \] Here, \([t]\) represents the integer part of \(t.\) The analysis is based on some auxiliary results of \textit{J. J. Nieto} and \textit{R. Rodriguez-Lopez} [``Green's function for second-order periodic boundary value problems with piecewise constant arguments'', J. Math. Anal. Appl. 304, No.~1, 33--57 (2005; Zbl 1078.34046)], and it refers to sufficient and necessary conditions for the existence of a solution of the problem. Some interesting examples illustrate the results. The the non-homogeneous case is discussed in the last section.
