Let \(X\) be a simply connected CW complex with finite rational cohomology. We denote by \(E_n\) the set of rational homotopy types of orbit spaces of almost free actions of the torus \(T^n\) on CW complexes in the rational homotopy type of \(X\). Then two elements \(Y\) and \(Z\) of \(E_n\) are called equivalent if they have same rational torus rank. Finally, in \(E = \cup_n E_n\), we say that \(Y<Z\) if \(Y\sim Y'\) in some \(E_n\), \(Z\sim Z'\) in some \(E_m\), \(m>n\), and \(Z'\) is the quotient of \(Y'\) by an almost free action of the torus \(T^{m-n}\). The set of equivalence classes, equipped with the relation \(<\), is called the Hasse diagram for torus actions on \(X\). The text makes a first study of this notion and contains a series of examples with torus rank \(\leq 4\)
