A simplification of Perelman's proof of the collapsing theorem for 3-dimensional manifolds is presented. This theorem says that a sequence of compact oriented Riemanian manifolds (closed, or with incompressible toral boundary), which satisfies an additional condition on the metrics, converges to a graph manifold (this means a simplest manifold). This theorem implies the positive solution of Thurston's geometrization conjecture. Perelman's proof of this theorem is based on the notion of Ricci flow. Such a flow determines a convergent sequence of Riemanian manifolds as above and singularities of the flow are simplest changes by standard manifolds.
