The authors study the problem of \(d\)-orthogonality-preserving operators. The main result shows a necessary and sufficient condition on a linear operator \(J\), defined on the space of polynomials, and \(d\)-symmetric polynomial sets \(\{P_n\}_{n \geq 0}\) to have both \(\{P_n\}\) and \(\{JP_n\}\) \(d\)-orthogonality. As a consequence, the authors characterize the Dunkl-classical \(d\)-symmetric \(d\)-orthogonal polynomials, for a positive integer \(d\), as the range of classical \(d\)-symmetric \(d\)-orthogonal polynomials by the operator \(V_{\mu}\) given by \(V_{\mu}(x^n)=\frac{n!}{\gamma_{\mu}(n)} x^n \) for \(n=0,1,\dots\), where \(\gamma_{\mu}\) plays the role of a generalized factorial. Moreover, they establish some results for \(T_{\mu}\)-classical \(d\)-symmetric \(d\)-orthogonal polynomials, where \(T_{\mu}\) is the Dunkl operator. For example, they obtain the number of Dunkl-classical \(d\)-symmetric \(d\)-orthogonal polynomials and they also obtain a differential-difference equation satisfied by this type of sequences. Finally they show, by considering an example, that the \(d\)-orthogonality is not preserved by the operator \(V_{\mu}\) for the non-symmetric orthogonal polynomials, and they discuss the possibilities to extend the obtained results.
